Little Pig, Little Pig, Let the Big Bad Wolf in!

Written on 24/7/07 by Donny Broussard

Plot Outline

"When DEREK COWLEY takes his college classmates to his stepfather's cabin to party, they are attacked by a strange creature. A cross between Hannibal Lecter and the Wolfman, the lascivious Beast hunts down Derek's classmates and kills them with sadistic glee. Back home, Derek begins to suspect his abusive stepfather, MITCH TOBLAT, is the werewolf. With help from his friend SAMANTHA, a brash motorcycle-riding tomboy, he begins to investigate -- leading to a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with Toblat. Ultimately, Derek must find the courage to face the unleashed Beast in a final night of unimaginable horror."

Review Summary

Richard Tyson plays this character so perfectly that I found myself hoping he would just randomly slaughter people and shout wonderfully bad dialogue at them as he tore them limb form limb.

The Review

The werewolf is one of my favorite horror characters, and I love it when a filmmaker puts a new spin on this classic character that I haven’t seen before. Lance W. Dreesen’s film “Big Bad Wolf” takes the classic wolf man, but instead of a tortured soul we get a sadistic psycho with some killer dialogue. That’s right folks, this big bad wolf talks to his victims, and even though he is the bad guy killing innocent teenagers, the minute he starts taunting the kids I couldn’t help but cheer him on.

The film follows Derek Cowley (Trevor Duke) a nerdy teen trying to get himself into a fraternity by steeling his step dad’s key to his cabin in the woods. Unbeknownst to Derek is the fact that his step dad, Mitchell played brilliantly by Richard Tyson is planning a trip to the cabin that same night (on a full moon) so that he can change into a werewolf and roam around the forest. Derek takes his best friend and love interest Sam (Kimberly J. Brown)who's looking pretty hot on this trip to the cabin and the two of them are the only ones that make it out alive. From then on they spend the rest of the flick trying to find a way to put Mitch six feet under.

Richard Tyson plays this character so perfectly that I found myself hoping he would just randomly slaughter people and shout wonderfully bad dialogue at them as he tore them limb form limb. Also this big bad wolf doesn’t just slaughter his victims he rapes them. It the victim happens to be a smoking hot babe this bad boy rips their clothes off and gets him some before he tears them apart. I had so much fun watching this guy that a few times during the flick I caught myself yelling at the television telling him which hottie I wanted him to kill next. Dreesen has created a character charismatic enough to give Freddy a run for his money.

The visuals were stellar as well, and the picture had that made in the 80’s look going on. The music was a mixture of cheese-ball rock tunes (not a bad thing) along with a surprisingly good score. All of the actors were perfect fits the characters they were playing and it was nice to see Kimberly J. Brown playing outside of her “ Halloweentown” good girl persona.

This flick has a kick ass bad guy, buckets of the red stuff, tits and ass, a fun soundtrack, and even a cameo from Clint Howard who always kicks ass. So pick this one up as soon as you can because this is definitely a killer film!
