The Review

Filmmakers Andres and Dego Meza-Valdes’s short film “The Room” is one of the most impressive short films that I have ever seen. Taking a simple idea and mixing it with old school film ascetics makes “The Room” a short film that should be seen by anyone calling themselves a horror fan.

The film begins by introducing us to a girl alone in a blood-filled room with nothing but a mattress and a dead body sharing the space with her. Then we are introduced to the girl’s sister who brings her food through a hole in the door, and her father who talks to her through an intercom system. One thing is made very clear in the first few minutes of the film, and that is the fact that something is very wrong with the girl in the room.

The visuals are artful, and the production values are extremely high. Something that is not often seen in horror shorts. It was obvious from the very first frame that these filmmakers put everything but the kitchen sink into this film. They also assembled a pretty solid cast as well. Short films are not usually easy to track down, but if your reading this review then do your best to find a copy of this movie because it is worth every second you put into finding it.
