The Review

Yes, grandpappy Donny has already given us his thoughts in video form on Happy Madison's latest opus. Yes, it was a while ago, likely during the two weeks the movie was in theaters. But you know what? I'm doing this review for two reasons:

1) The first was a video, this one is written. Written things are for non lazy people. Whatever.

and

2) Jon Peters keeps fucking beating me to the punch on reviews! Seriously! This other reviewing clown has beat me on both IRON MAN and TEETH reviews! What a load of wet bull honky.

Okay, on to the review.

I was pretty excited to see STRANGE WILDERNESS, and why shouldn't I be? It's starring a LOT of the young comedy talent and I've been waiting for another slice of heaven since the release of GRANDMA'S BOY.

Sadly, this was no slice of heaven. SW has some great gags in it, some mediocre, and some blah blah I crapped my pants from un-laughter. Maybe I was too excited to see it, or maybe it is what it is..another blah comedy from writer/director Fred Wolf. Actually, it was mostly his writing. I think this was actually his first time as director. After watching the movie I looked him up, simply because I couldn't remember where else (save for SNL) I'd seen his name.

Oh yeah, the 9/11 of Happy Madison: Dicky Robers: Former Child Star.

So we have a slew of great talent, and some Farrelly brothers gross out jokes that fall flat and only make you say "DID I JUST SEE A NUT SACK TWISTED UP AND HAIRY?"

The answer to that would be yes, and then you'd realize how dumb it was.

I think I'm being overly harsh on the movie, really. It's entertaining, slightly rewatchable, and has some really good bits in it (Justin Long sleeping, for one). Plus you get a brief glimpse of Ashley Scott's bing bangs in a psychedelic pseudo orgy freak out.

This one's a total rent, or a total bargain bin buy. Under ten bucks, especially since there's no real meat to the dvd. Three 5 minute BTS scenes, and that's about it for extras. Bummer. Could have had a whole slew of outtakes and alternate/deleted scenes I'm sure.
