The Review

I don't get it.

How can people hate this movie so much?

The only way I can figure it is that people are over analyzing it, and trying to make it something it's not in their heads.

From the get-go, I saw it as a satire. Just look at the USIdent bits, it goes just like the MEDIA BREAKS in Robocop. It's wonderful.

I'm getting ahead of myself, as usual.

The movie starts off, well, with a bang. WWIII starts up thanks to nukes kicking off on American soil. Cut to a few years later when shit's gone so downhill, and the current time frame is the last three days of the world. Killer.

We follow a few characters ranging from action movie stars to crappy porn has beens. The Rock plays Boxer Santaros the action star with amnesia. He's also got a brilliant script he's working on getting made. Sarah Michelle Gellar is Krista NOW, a has been porn star with a talk show that's almost as annoying as Tyra Banks' gab fest without a brain. Luckily Krista's was scripted, so it came off funny instead of the terrible downfall of television that..well, shit. Busted. It played that card to a T.

We've also got officer Roland Taverner, twin to Ronald. He's also got amnesia and is caught up with the neo-Marx group trying to pin a racist murder beef.

Man, this thing could go on forever. This movie is just full of interesting characters, scenes, everything about it is 100% intriguing.

Just don't over think it. Take it for entertainment, it's a movie remember. Enjoy it. Let it inside a bit, and escape into the world it creates.

Then watch the world end.

Buy the crap out of this DVD. The current (I'm sure there'll be another someday) version only has a BTS and animated short feature, but it's still worth the $20 price tag.

If you're unsure, or don't trust my reviews, give it a rent. I won't guarantee you love it or hate it, but I highly suggest you at least give it a chance.
