The Review
So I was at the used dvd store picking through everything, attempting to find something reasonably priced that I haven't seen. After finding a (now out of print) copy of Class of Nuke'em High, I happened across a copy of Jeff Anderson's directorial debut: Now You Know.
The story goes like this, Jeremy's girl called off the wedding, but they're still gonna hoof it back to Jersey (from Vegas) to hang with friends, ect.
While I dug the movie as a whole, the 'girl' bits where a bit too draggy for me at some points. Especially when the 'guy' bits were so entertaining and interesting.
When Jeremy gets back to Jersey (maybe Kevin Smiths new movie?), he immediately hooks up with his friends Gil (Anderson) and Biscuit (Fehrman) and start drinking, and eventually..breaking into houses.
Wait, it gets better.
They break into people's houses to rearrange things simply to fuck with the home owners. Brilliant.
The overall plot is pretty standard romcom, but it's the in between bits (with Anderson and Fehrman) that make it really shine. They're both very funny on screen, and have a great chemistry.
My only REAL complaints were unavoidable. I just felt bad for Jeff Anderson's writing and directing debut having KEVIN SMITH PRESENTS NOW YOU K NOW as the title card. It's already taking up the packaging and more! The man can handle his own, let him HAVE HIS TITLE CARD!
I picked it up used for a mere six bucks, and would advise it as a buy. Especially with the features packed in. The always fun Kevin Smith commentary with Jeff Anderson, the screening Q&A is quite entertaining, and of course you get the movie.
Out of all the View Askew movies made by a friend of Kevin Smith, I think this one is my favorite.
FUN FACT! I'm a big Trevor Fehrman fan, the dude's just funny! To see some more of his comedy in a more leading man and very Ferris Buller style performance check out CHEATS.
