The Review
Robert England, the man everyone on the planet knows as Freddy Krueger directed a flick in the 80s’ that I really dug called 976-Evil, so I when I heard that he was gearing up to direct his second flick I was mucho excited. The flick I’m yapping about is “Killer Pad,” about three friends that move into an awesome house and decide to throw a party only to find out that their beautiful next door neighbors are demons that want to kill their guests and steal their souls.
The cast of this flick was stellar! Eric Jungmann (Craig) was a stand out, Emily Foxler (Lucy) also brought a few laughs to the table, and Corri English (Jezebel) was smoking hot. Hell even Joey Lawrence showed up to poke fun at himself. But unfortunately the cast couldn’t save this flick from achieving nothing more than mediocrity. The film started out on the right foot and took me back to the days when horror comedies ruled, but it fell short in delivering the key elements that make those types of flicks fun. No nudity, and very little gore. WTF? This film had some extremely hot ladies in it and not one of them took their clothes off, and most of the kills in the film didn’t offer up any of the red stuff that we horror fans expect from a direct to DVD flick like this.
Another big problem that I noticed throughout the runtime of this one was that the coverage wasn’t there. There were way to many cutaways and many of the plot points got confusing. At one section of the flick the guys are about to do battle with a hell hound but suddenly it cuts to them hanging out in the house with no real explanation of what happened with the devil dog. These types of cuts hurt the impact of the film.
Even though the flick had its problems I did enjoy the cast as well as some of the jokes, but I wouldn’t recommend watching it unless your looking for a fun time waster and have no expectations other than loosing a few hours and getting a few laughs. Basically “Killer Pad” was fun at times but not quite a killer film.
