The Flick:

Judd Apatow is a man that consistently delivers everything that is missing from films produced by the tepid Hollywood system. He makes R rated films that do well at the box office, and even though his films are vulgar they never lack heart. It doesn’t matter if he’s the writer, producer, or director the films that he is involved with always shine. And with ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ he raises the bar even higher with a romantic comedy that isn’t just for the ladies.

The film revolves around a simple premise that fits perfectly within the confines its genre. Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) is a composer who writes music for a television show starring his smoking hot girlfriend Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). His life is all sunshine and fruit loops until Sarah puts the breaks on the relationship, sending Peter into a deep yet hilarious depression. So Peter, taking the advise of his step brother Brian (Bill Hader) decides to take a trip to beautiful Hawaii, only to find Sarah and her new boy-toy Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) staying at the same hotel.

Director Nicholas Stoller makes his directorial debut with this flick and definitely delivers the goods with this one. And so does Jason Segel as his junk is on display quite a few times during the breakup scene. All of the actors do a wonderful job and there is not a weak link to be found in the entire cast. Both of the leading ladies are stupid hot, and Segal proves himself as an extremely likable leading man. Also Paul Rudd (Chuck) and Russell Brand (Aldous Snow) steal the scenes on various occasions.

I can’t think of a single bad thing to say about this flick. It has an amazing cast, solid direction, incredible writing, Kristen Bell in a bikini, a Dracula musical (with puppets), and the mouthwatering Mila Kunis on the bathroom wall! ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ is a killer film that is impossible to forget.

The Blu-Ray

Audio: The audio sounded killer on my surround sound system.

Video: The video looked beautiful! I am quickly etching out a spot for my Blu-Ray discs in my office, the quality is amazing, but the price is still not right.

Special Features:

Rated/Unrated: First up we have the original R-rated cut of the flick which in and of itself is killer, but you also have the Unrated cut of the film. The Unrated cut of the flick is six minutes longer than the original cut, shows slightly more skin, and features a scene with Kristen Wiig. I enjoyed both cuts, but I’m still standing behind the original cut.

Karaoke: There are six songs that can be used to play Karaoke, and the viewer can pick between versions with or without vocal tracks. I’m a Karaoke fan, but I didn’t really play with this much, it’s part of the U-Control feature that also allows you to do picture-in-picture (this disc has a visual commentary track which is pretty darn cool).

Deleted Scenes: Next up are the deleted scenes, of which most of them were deleted for a reason. While I didn’t hate the scenes that they deleted, I didn’t love them either. I’m not really a fan of this feature, but I some fans love it, and it’s for those fans these scenes are here.

Line-O-Rama: With this feature you get to check out different versions of lines that the actors are using, illustrating their improvisational skills. This was a pretty funny feature, and offered a look at how the actors put together lines on the spot.

Sex-O-Rama: Just a short extra scene with Jason and the girl that keeps telling him “hi” during sex.

Drunk-O-Rama: Is another short, but funny feature that focuses on Peter getting wasted.

Video Diaries: These are pretty enjoyable entries in this special features list. I had a good time with these, so check them out.

There are many other features on this disc like, auditions, scenes from Sarah’s show “Crime Scene,” and much, much more. So do yourself a favor and pick up this killer disc.
