Save Fanboys

I have not seen "Fanboys" and the way its looking, I probably never will. Two reasons: First the damn film has already been sitting on the shelf for 2 years now. Second because the Weinsteins have decided to make the film more "Superbad" than "Stand By Me".
Taking place in 1998 six months before the release of "The Phantom Menace", "Fanboys" tells the story of a group of "Star Wars" geeks who learn that one of thier own is dying from cancer. They take it upon themselves to travel cross country and break into Skywalker Ranch and view the film before he passes. The film has all kinds of nods to the fans, including Billy Dee Williams, Ray Park, Carrie Fisher, and even George Lucas who gave his personal stamp of approval. Hell, it has a scene where the characters are trapped in a trash compactor ala the death star.
The original cut was praised by fans over and over. Then it sat, for years waiting to be released. Now the unthinkable has happened. The Weinstein Co has had the director of such greats as "Little Nicky" and "Without a Paddle" to recut the film without ANY mention of the friend with cancer. The film has been reduced to "star wars geeks break into skywalker ranch, just because". They have also added multiple f-bombs and nudity, cause that sells.
PLEASE join me in the boycott of the Weinstein Co. I am a HUGE Star Wars geek. I loved all six movies. Yes even the prequels. I don't give a shit how big the Weinsteins are, or how they don't give a damn if the real fanboys boycott their films. It will make me feel better, and thats what counts.
