Welcome back to another New Release Tuesday, this time for July 15th!! After a big week last week, this one is thankfully light. Let’s peek at what’s coming out.
The Bank Job
**DVD PICK OF THE WEEK** Despite the feeling that this seems like a spin-off of the “Italian Job”, this film will surprise many. It’s a solid, funny, British bank heist based on a true story. I sadly missed out at the theatres but I’m going to seek it out. Also on Blu Ray.
Extras:
-digital copy
-audio commentary
-featurettes
Birds of Prey (Complete Collection)
This little seen TV series barely lasted a handful of episodes, but it was cool from what I can remember. Seriously, it’s been a long time. This is a spin-off of the Batman universe featuring “Batgirl” in a wheelchair and the daughter of Catwoman and Batman, and some allies, but it never caught on.
Extras:
-featurette
Shutter
Horror has been so bad this year. Some of the better stuff you have to seek out and the bad have been mostly these Japanese/American remakes. Case in point: “Shutter”. I hate knocking a film sight unseen, but I bet you $10 this is lackluster at best. Also on Blu Ray.
Extras:
-audio commentary
-deleted scenes
-five featurettes
-alternative ending
Penelope
It was sitting on the shelf for a good while, despite a good cast: James McAvoy and Christina Ricci, with Reese Witherspoon producing. It made some money and left the theaters, so rediscover it with a rental.
Extras:
-making of
Step Up 2: The Streets
“She had the apple-bottom jeans…” sorry, I’m not a fan of these urban dance films, but the chick is smoking hot and that’s the reason I’ll see it…on HBO.
Extras:
-audio commentary
-music videos
And that is it. See? Weak week. Come back next week once again for a preview of July 22nd DVDs!!! Only at Killer Film!!!
