Welcome to another New Release Tuesday only here at Killer Film! Let’s get going at peeking what to buy or avoid today!
4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days
Such an emotional gut-punch of a film, the tone will just smoother most people. I loved how the director didn’t take a side on the abortion issue; he just shows you in a distilled manner what two ladies decided to do during the Communist 1980s of Romania. Check out my more thorough review in our review index.
The Dead Pit
I never heard of this apparent lost zombie film from the director of “Lawnmower Man”. Code Red DVD has brought it back to the light in a new special edition and it features a gory, uncut version of the film. Could be interesting.
Extras:
-audio commentary
Be Kind Rewind
I love most of Michel Gondry films, but I couldn’t stand this film. I felt it lacked his visual flair, for the most part, and featured a lack luster story. Be sure to check out my DVD review here. Also on Blu Ray.
Extras:
-behind the scenes
-looking at New Jersey
The Sword and the Stone Anniversary
**DVD PICK OF THE WEEK** In my personal opinion, outside of Criterion, nobody does DVD like Disney. Where’s the Blu Ray version of this? Unknown, but the transfer should rock and will the extras, on what is essentially a lesser Disney film. Come back later this week for my DVD review.
Extras:
-interactive Disney Games
-short films
Joy Division
This is a documentary on the band by the band. I heard is just as arty and beautiful as the band’s music. Should be a perfect companion piece to last week’s “Control” DVD.
So I Married an Axe Murderer Special Edition
Just in time for “The Love Guru” is a new special edition of Michael Myers first theatrical film. Also on
Blu Ray.
Other releases include “Fool’s Gold”, “Jericho” the complete series, “Men in Black” on blu ray, the documentary “Super High Me” and “Jungle Book 2”. Next week we will look at “10,000 B.C.”, “Charlie Bartlett”, “Futurama: Beast with a Billion Backs”, “The Eye 3”, “In Bruges”, “Man of a Thousand Faces”, “Maid in Sweden”, and “Persepolis”. Wow what a week! Keep checking back often here for DVD reviews on these and more!
