Welcome to another New Release Tuesday! Some cool releases today and look at the bottom of this article for a super cool deal going on to buy DVDs.
Funny Games (2008)
I have never seen the original but I’ve heard it’s just as rough and hard as this remake. You can read my review of the film here at Killer Film, but I say it’s worth at least one viewing if you’re a smart horror fan. Casual people will either be bored or be shocked enough to just it off.
Fantastic Four – World’s Greatest Heroes Season 1
Finally those studio bastards have released the entire season 1 as a set not as little volumes with like 4 episodes on it. It’s a cool, fast-paced show inspired by the comic series using anime-style animation and these episodes are a zillion times better than the two live-action movies.
Extras:
-four featurettes
-comic book
Bucket List
Remember when Rob Reiner directed good movies? Me either. Avoid or buy for your grandma. See it on Blu Ray too! Or not.
Extras:
-interview with the screenwriter
Jumper
Boy did this movie blow. It blew a cool idea and it blew my two hours. Luckily, I had a free AMC Movie watcher free ticket I used to see this…wait, it blew that free opportunity. It’s just a plain, brain-dead action fodder. Read my review here on the site for further analyze. Also on Blu Ray.
Extras:
-ton of featurettes
-audio commentary
John Adams
I’m looking forward to seeing this. This was an epic HBO mini series focusing on the man who would become our 2nd President played by the always awesome Paul Giamatti.
Extras:
-documentary
Otis
A low budget horror-comedy that has been getting raves reviews from Fangoria and Dread Central. Seems silly; a deranged man captures pretty women and forces them to recreate prom night. Gore and gags ensue.
The Signal
**DVD PICK OF THE WEEK**Here’s a much hyped horror film that everyone loved and no one outside of the critics saw. It’s an end of the world tale broken up in three parts, directed by three different directors, all creating one narrative. Seems badass. Seek it. Also on Blu Ray.
Extras:
-audio commentary
-deleted scenes
-alternative beginning
