New Insight on the Writers Strike and Star Trek

The current strike by the Writers Guild of America has brought a new reality to us all that has nothing to do with the programming of MTV, writers get shit upon. Every original piece of television and film ever made has someones name with the title "written by" attached to it, without that name, no director, big name star, awards or blockbuster ever comes to be. Classic films must start somewhere, and the people responsible are only asking for their fair share of the profits.

Which brings us to one of the greatest and unfortunately, most shit upon writers in the history of not only sci fiction, but fiction in general, Harlan Ellison. A clip online of one of his rants perfectly illustrates why the writers are on strike today. He has made no secret his utter hatred of Hollywood suits, and with the rumors that the next "Star Trek" film will borrow elements from his original series story, "City on the Edge of Forever", Mr. Ellison may finally receive the acknowledgment he rightfully deserves.
