In another surprising bit of casting, but one that I am interested in seeing, Tyler Perry has been confirmed as a member of JJ Abrams "Star Trek". Perry will be playing the superintendent of Starfleet Academy during Kirks time as a cadet.

Perry's work has always been derided by critics, but he has a fan in me. When studio heads scoffed at the idea of his films having broad appeal, he financed them himself, and now he is laughing all the way to the bank.
