A Great Light Has Been Extinguished: Heath Ledger Gone At 28
The first movie I ever saw Heath Ledger in was the revolutionary war film "The Patriot". Playing the part of Mel Gibsons oldest son leaving home for war, I couldn't help but think, this guys gonna be huge. And for the next 7 years I was right. The film "A Knights Tale", an unusual entry into the medieval genre, became a hit, and catapulted Heath into the A-list. His defining role would come with the character Ennis del Mar of "Brokeback Mountain". Portraying a cowboy in denial, his performance would earn him an oscar nomination for best actor. Heaths latest role as The Joker was one that was acclaimed by everyone involved with the filming of "The Dark Knight". His performance was reportedly so terrifying that even Gary Oldman was afraid. I would have very much like to have seen what the future held for Heath, he was without a doubt one of the best actors in Hollywood.
